We cannot solve the climate crisis, or grow our business, without protecting the natural world that our business depends on.
Through the Unilever Compass, we’re working towards a nature-positive future.
That’s a future where forests are protected and restored, agricultural systems are regenerated, water systems are preserved and smallholder farmers are empowered. We’ve set bold ambitions to get us there.
But we’ll need everyone on board: that means bringing people, partners and technology together.
For too long the true value of nature has been overlooked.
Nature plays a vital role in tackling climate change. We’re on a mission to stop deforestation in its tracks and start actively regenerating nature.
Now we need to find the right partners, projects and people to make it happen. By working collectively, we can tackle deforestation, build regenerative agricultural systems, restore landscapes and preserve water.
We’re working – both within our business and with others outside it – to eliminate deforestation from our supply chain, support human rights and tackle climate change.
Our ambition is to make sustainable palm oil commonplace. To achieve this, we’re stepping up our work with partners to create a deforestation-free supply chain by 2023.
Water is critical to both mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. It’s also essential for our business – from growing crops to manufacturing, to how people use our products.
We’re working to increase supplies of sustainable and deforestation-free palm oil by sourcing directly from producers on the ground. This not only benefits the local environment, it’s also a win for smallholders, independent mills and our own supply chains.
